Time for an Oil Change Yet?

With many auto shops offering oil change coupons, an oil change every 3,000 miles is more affordable than ever. However, the old adage of the 3,000 mile interval is no longer mandatory. There is a lot of contradictory information about engine oil, what type to use and how often to change it. Many auto technicians will agree that today's cars should have oil changes at the recommended intervals as stated in their owner's manual or when the car's "oil change" light appears. With the combination of recent advancements in engine technology and oil chemistry, the recommended interval has lengthened considerably. That interval could be anywhere between 5,000 to 15,000 miles, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. Be sure to check your owner's manual.
