A number of new technologies have been introduced in the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, which have enhanced the connectivity and efficiency, the two most important considerations for a vast majority of car-lovers.
Chevrolet’s Perspective
Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet’s Global Chief Marketing Officer, claimed that the famous car manufacturer has made a lot of enhancements in the 2014 model in order to be more competitive in the midsize sedan segment, which is arguably the most competitive in the industry. Mahoney said that the company has received a lot of feedback from the customers in recent times and that has been seriously considered in the making of the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, which he believes is one of the best cars in the history of Chevrolet.
Engine
With a stop/start technology, a latest Ecotec 2.5L four-cylinder engine is introduced in the segment. This should really enhance the overall economy; the engine will automatically come to a halt as car stops anywhere. As soon as the driver takes his foot off the brake, the engine restarts automatically.
Economy
The estimated fuel economy in the city is 25 MPG, whereas, it is 36 MPG on the highway. As compared to the previous model, 14 percent improvement in city mileage and 6 percent on highway are excellent.
Connectivity
Connectivity in the car is enhanced through Chevrolet MyLink as it offers Siri for iPhone users and a latest technology, Text-to-Voice for other smartphone users, which means that the connectivity can be controlled by voice. Incoming messages are converted to speech through Text-to-Voice as the system reads them via audio speakers, allowing drivers to focus on the road. Drivers can send preset messages like ‘I will call you back as I am driving’. The feature, however, requires a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth. The much improved connectivity should naturally enhance the overall safety level, as driver’s attention will not be diverted.
