Summer is the season for major car battery problems. On the average, one out of four vehicles gets a new car battery every year. Sooner or later, all vehicles will require a car battery replacement, but having it happen prematurely can involve not only the cost of a road service call and a new battery, it can be inconvenient and frustrating at important times as well.
According to certified auto mechanics, excessive heat, not cold, is one of the main reasons of the shortened life of your car battery. Heat causes battery fluid to evaporate, causing damage to the internal structure of the battery. Overcharging is the second main reason for shortened car battery life. A malfunctioning component in the charging system, usually the voltage regulator, allows too high a charging rate. That’s slow death for a car battery and most likely will result in a car battery replacement.
