There aren’t many names that inspire the same sort of revere as Alfa Romeo, the Italian manufacturer who has released more legendary models in the last hundred years than most of us have had hot dinners. Their commitment to class shows no signs of waning and with its recent and upcoming models generating a massive buzz in the automotive world we take a look at some of top automotive contenders for the coming year.
To whet your appetite, we’ve got the scoop on the most exciting Alfa Romeo models to keep your eye out for in 2013/2014.
Alfa Romeo 4C
Similar to the MiTo (below), the Alfa Romeo 4C is a rather small and lightweight Coupé sports car with its two seats driven by rear-wheel powered acceleration. We first got a glance of this treat during the 81st Geneva Motorshow in 2011 where we learned about its carbonfibre trim, rear aluminium diffuser and bi-LED headlights (to name just a few of its pulse-worthy features).
Only 1,000 models are being released worldwide, making finding one something of a treasure hunt – but the spoils are well worth the effort.

- MiTo
Though this was introduced in 2008, this model has made such a large splash with consumers it’s definitely expected to remain a strong contender throughout the next year. The three-door hatchback is technically classed as a luxury supermini and its new ‘Alfa DNA’ feature allows users to choose between ‘Normal’, ‘Dynamic’ or ‘All-Weather’ settings which automatically modify the car’s engine, steering, suspension, brakes and gearbox.
It’s no surprise this keeps people running to their local Alfa dealer and there are plenty of top features found on this luxury model.

Alfa Romeo 169
Taking the place of the Alfa Romeo 166 (which was retired in 2007), the 169 has been experiencing quite a few issues in development since its planned release. We expected it in 2008 but delay upon delay has set its final date to be late 2014 or early 2015.
While it’d be tempting to lose heart at this point but knowing that it’s set to be a genuine contender to the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class makes us a little giddy. Mid-sized Alfa Romeos don’t seem to come along very often so we’re more than happy to wait and see what this model has to offer.
