Owner Of Frank Myers Auto Wins Emmy Awards

Esperanza Poster

The owner of a Winston-Salem, NC used car dealership was recently honored to receive an Emmy® Award. Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx, won the award for serving as Executive Producer of the inspirational short film documentary, “Esperanza.” Myers  owns several other businesses located in the Triad area including: WrestleCade Entertainment & America’s Most Liked Dealer Services.

“Esperanza” earned the Emmy® Awards for best historical/cultural documentary. Myers received an Emmy Award for his role as an Executive Producer of the film. He also served as Producer of the film, “Mi Casa Hogar,” which earned Nick Nanton an Emmy for Best Director. The Emmy® Ceremony was held on November 24, 2013 in Miami, Florida.

“Esperanza” is the inspirational story of how the Great American Pastime of Baseball led a young ball player to his life’s mission. While playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic in 1985, Dave Valle, a Seattle Mariner’s catcher, was swarmed by young children as most young fans would do. Dave soon realized, however, that an autograph was the last thing they wanted; they wanted food. They were starving, and they weren’t the only ones. The ballpark was surrounded by poverty stricken villages. After that eye opening experience Dave and his wife Vicky made a pact to return and make a difference. It was in that moment, Esperanza was born.

The film showcases Esperanza International – an organization that dedicates itself to free children and their families from poverty through initiatives that generate income, education and health, restoring self-worth and dignity to those who have lost hope. It reveals an in-depth look at Esperanza International’s incredible story and what can happen when people believe in an idea and act to make it come true.

“Mi Casa Hogar” reveals an in-depth look at the incredible story of the Casa Hogar children’s home in Acapulco, specifically how the home is providing a nurturing environment with a focus on education in this economically disadvantaged region. Casa Hogar is a children’s home that provides care, shelter, strength, love and hope in a Christian environment for orphaned and abandoned children in Acapulco, Mexico.

Tracy was previously featured in the film “Car Men”, which is a documentary about the Myers family and Frank Myers Auto Maxx. It won 5 Telly Awards and was also nominated for an Emmy.

Air Conditioning season is approaching

The sun is shining and the weather is starting to warm up. Before you know it summer will be here and everyone will be using their A/C. All Tech Auto Repair offers an A/C service as well as A/C repairs and inspections.
Here is a little information to better understand the cooling system in your car.
The compressor is a pump that moves refrigerant through your car’s air conditioning system. The refrigerant is carried by hoses and pipes from one component to another. Compressor designs vary, but they all essentially work the same way.

The compressor is belt-driven by the engine through an electromagnetic clutch (although some hybrid vehicles use an electric motor to operate the compressor). The clutch allows the compressor to disengage when the A/C is switched off, or at times during A/C system operation when compressor function is not called for. The clutch usually receives its electrical signal from a component called a relay, which in turn, receives its activation signal, in most cases, from the fuel injection or engine control computer.

Besides pumping the refrigerant, the compressor has another job; at a certain point in the system, it raises the pressure of the refrigerant from low to high, and as the refrigerant’s pressure goes up, so does its temperature. Raising the refrigerant’s pressure and temperature enables it to release the passenger compartment heat it absorbed while inside the evaporator. The heat release process takes place in the next component to be discussed, the condenser.

The compressor can somewhat be compared to the water pump in an engine cooling system:

* The water pump circulates the engine coolant throughout the system. The coolant absorbs heat from the engine, and the water pump moves it to the radiator where it releases the heat to the atmosphere. It also circulates hot coolant through the heater core to warm the interior of the vehicle.

* The compressor circulates the refrigerant through the system. The refrigerant absorbs the heat inside the vehicle while passing through the evaporator. The refrigerant is then passed on to the condenser, where it gives up the heat to the atmosphere.

Means Testing And Credit Counseling In Bankruptcy Proceedings

Means Testing And Credit Counseling In Bankruptcy Proceedings

Are you contemplating filing for bankruptcy in the state of Arizona? Then try to think a few essential things over first. Filing for bankruptcy shouldn’t be done haphazardly. It’s something that requires serious thought and planning as well. Usually, a person who is suffering severe and almost irreversible financial difficulties is one who should properly contemplate bankruptcy proceedings. But if you still have enough assets to cover your debts, then there may still be other better options for you to consider. That’s why it’s highly recommended that you should talk things out with a licensed bankruptcy lawyer in the state before actually going for it.

An experienced bankruptcy lawyer in Arizona will most likely require you to first undergo the means test and mandatory credit counseling before he will consider filing your bankruptcy petition. Why is this so? Stemming from the 2005 Reform Laws, these requirements were incorporated to the United States Bankruptcy Code in order to prevent abuses on the system. In the past, filing for bankruptcy was resorted to by more than just a few individuals to just frivolously avoid their financial obligations. This opened the doors to abuse which is why these tests were introduced as amendments to the existing legislation.

Essentially, the means test is for the purpose of evaluating the present income of the person as well as his remaining assets, assuming any are still left. The result of such assessment will determine whether he can file for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 or if he has no choice but to pursue a Chapter 13 bankruptcy instead. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy can only be filed if after undergoing the means test, the individual is found to be with very minimal to no assets left to cover his outstanding debts to his creditors. Your current income will also be calculated and reviewed accordingly to see if it can still be sufficient enough to meet your outstanding financial obligations.

As for the mandatory credit counseling, this lays down several crucial requirements for you to fulfill before you can file your petition. By the very term “mandatory,” failure to meet such requirements would lead to the dismissal of your petition by the bankruptcy courts. These requirements include:

  • Meeting with an approved credit counselor for a 90-minute session within 6 months before filing your bankruptcy petition;
  • Completing money management classes before your debts will be discharged; and
  • Developing a debt repayment schedule in case you’re filing under Chapter 13

Failure to undergo the means test or to fulfill any of the requirements for mandatory credit counseling will most likely lead the courts to dismiss your petition and at times, with prejudice as well. Thus, you have to be very prudent and discuss your bankruptcy plans thoroughly with a bankruptcy attorney in Arizona to make sure that you’re literally doing the right thing. Consult with your bankruptcy attorney today and put your financial burdens to rest for good.

What Do You Know About Oil Changes?

With the change in seasons, it's time to get your vehicle ready for those cold winter months, starting with an oil change. Even though an oil change is a basic element of car care, it is one of the most important. Many auto shops offer oil change coupons to make regular oil changes affordable for their customers.

There are some basic facts about oil changes that drivers should know. Take a few minutes to become an informed consumer. This will help instill trust in your auto mechanic, rather than try to analyze and take care of everything on your own.

Custom Wheels and Tires For Your Wilmington Ride

It seems like everywhere you go in the Wilmington area you see custom wheels. Big trucks, little cars, mini-vans – it doesn’t matter, motorists are expressing themselves with custom wheels. Some North Carolina motorists want smaller tires and wheels – some want larger – and some want them enormous. So where do you start if you want new wheels? We suggest you start with your budget. We know, that sounds so practical. But if the look you’re after goes beyond just new tires and wheels and enters into the world of suspension modifications, you need to be prepared for the additional cost.

Let’s start with something easy – you want to give your ride a unique look and the stock wheel size is just right for you. One of the concerns you will have is that the new wheels have the same offset as your sedans factory wheels.

First, what is offset? The wheel bolts onto the hub on the sedans’s axle. The distance from the inside edge of the wheel to the point at which it bolts on, is the offset. If the new wheel has a different offset from the factory, the tires may rub on the inside or outside of the wheel well. That could lead to catastrophic tire failure.

Your tire and wheel professional at Atlantic Car Care in Wilmington can help you find the right size wheel – or install adapters to make your new wheels fit. All you have to do is pick from the hundreds of styles available.

Atlantic Car Care
21 New Bern Street
Wilmington, North Carolina 28403
9107941390

So, what if you want to upsize? Well, if it is just bigger wheels you want, but you want to keep the same overall tire diameter, that’s pretty easy. The same offset concerns apply. You need to know that the tires will likely be a little bit wider than the originals and could rub when you make sharp turns. Your tire professional at Atlantic Car Care will help you avoid this.

It is also important to keep the same overall tire diameter because changing the rolling diameter can mess with your sedans anti-lock brakes and stability control systems. Are you starting to see why you want to consult with your tire and wheel expert at Atlantic Car Care in Wilmington? Is “super-size me” your motto? If it is, you are going to have to lift your vehicle to make room for those huge tires. A mild lift doesn’t require extensive modifications. An extreme lift means a lot of new hardware under the vehicle. It also means a lot of stock electronic systems need to be recalibrated to the new tire size. For example, your speedometer and odometer will give false readings if they aren’t recalibrated. (You don’t want to risk getting speeding tickets on North Carolina expressways because your speedometer shows a lower-than-actual speed.)

You should also be aware of possible performance issues. Bigger tires and wheels weigh more. North Carolina automotive experts refer to this as unsprung weight because it isn’t held up by your sedans suspension system. Increased unsprung weight affects performance in different ways than an equivalent amount of groceries or little soccer players in the sedans passenger compartment. Acceleration is negatively affected. Stopping distances may also be increased – sometimes significantly. If you want really big tires and wheels, you might need to upgrade your brakes to compensate.

Heading the other direction, some motorists like to run smaller than standard wheels and lower the suspension. All of the same fitment issues still apply as well as calibration issues. Don’t think that sedans suspension modifications are a bad thing. Many systems actually improve ride, function and performance over the stock set-up.

Regardless of your budget, you want your sedans to continue to do all the things you need it to do. Some of those show cars and trucks you see on TV look fantastic, but have been modified in ways that may not suit your needs. For example, if you put large rims on your SUV with low profile tires, you may be in for busted rims if you go off-roading a lot around Wilmington. There just isn’t enough sidewall to absorb the impact of thumping over rocks.

Some motorists stuff the largest tires and wheels possible in their vehicles but have to severely restrict suspension travel so that the tires aren’t rubbing all day. That can lead to a very harsh ride. Again, talk with your Atlantic Car Care wheel professional about all of these things: how you drive in Wilmington, what look you are going for, your budget and what compromises you are willing to make.

At the end of the day, you’re going to be rollin’ out of there with one sweet ride.

Infiniti All Set To Uncover The F1 Q50 Eau Rogue At Detroit Auto Show

Formula One inspired Q50 concept carInfiniti has confirmed its plan to launch a Formula One inspired Q50 concept car this January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Named ‘Q50 Eau Rouge’, the car has its name from one of the most exciting uphill corners of the Formula One track at Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The Eau Rogue corner at the Formula One track race circuit is believed to be one of the most complex routes to navigate for most drivers since it requires exceptional focus and strength. Infiniti, however, is not willing to disclose any details as yet.

A prestigious brand from the Japan-based automaker Nissan, the Infinity Q50 Eau Rogue flawlessly mixes road car technology with distinguished motorsport vision, giving customers a perfect blend of extreme performance and super class design.

The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rogue luxury car includes aerodynamic styling treatments having design ingredients influenced by Infiniti’s joint venture with the world championship winning team, Red Bull Racing. Since Infiniti has spent millions of dollars on its partnership with the Red Bull, the need for an exclusively Red Bull-inspired Infiniti was always felt.

The lone teaser image of the car released by the company suggests a deluxe design with a ventilated top, a mesh grille, front spoiler and side mirrors crafted out of carbon fiber. The public is hopeful that these improvements will not just be superficial but more than skin-deep.

The success of Infiniti’s designs emanate tremendously from its core belief in increased comfort and improved car performance. Infiniti’s Executive Design Director, Alfonso Albaisa remarked that the inclusion of an increased number of exclusive technologies formed an important foundation for Infiniti’s extreme performance vision. This belief is already signified by the broad customer base the corporation has in over 50 countries.

The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rogue is expected to be unveiled publicly for the first time on January 13th at a press conference in Detroit.

Consumer Warning: Are Damaged Vehicles Allegedly Being Fixed & Sold In North Carolina?

frank myers wrecked carShould North Carolina used car shoppers be on the lookout for vehicles which have been wrecked, repaired and then offered for sale? That is the question being asked by Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx in Winston Salem, NC.

“I was approached by a customer who informed me that the Mustang he purchased from my dealership had been wrecked but fixed before he bought it,” stated Myers. “When I asked him where he was getting this shocking information from, he said that a local DMV official had told him. Since this was the first I was hearing of it, I needed to make sure it was a legitimate concern.”

As the facts unfolded, it seems that the story had some merit. Here is what was discovered by Myers and the DMV:

1) Frank Myers Auto Maxx purchased 5 vehicles from another dealer with “clean” titles, meaning they were not branded as salvaged.

2) The original selling dealer bought these vehicles out of state at an insurance auction. The titles were still “clean” at this point.

3) All 5 vehicles had Certified vehicle history reports.

4) The 5 vehicles in question were sold to used car buyers by Frank Myers Auto Maxx.

5) After the vehicles were purchased, the titles were sent to NC DMV and all 5 came back “clean”.

The mystery here is how these vehicles were allegedly wrecked and repaired without the damage showing up on the vehicles titles or vehicle history reports. “We’re still trying to figure some of this out ourselves. I’ve been in the automotive industry my entire life and have never seen anything like this before”, said Myers.

The good news is that Myers insisted on offering his customers a resolution. “While I feel like I was also a victim, offering our customers a resolution was number one on our priority list. We got new cars for 3 of the customers while customer number 4 decided to keep his. We are still in negotiations with customer number 5 and expect to have her happy in the next few days. It IS unfortunate that this happened but, thanks to the DMV, it was discovered early which allowed us to act fast.”

What about the chances of this happening again in the future? “There’s always a chance”, said Myers. “However, we’ve worked hand in hand with DMV and they’ve agreed to personally inspect and sign off on any vehicle(s). This is not only a great way to protect the dealership but also our customers.”

A reliable source, which chose to remain anonymous, said that “Not taking anything away from their customers but Frank Myers Auto Maxx was certainly a victim here. They could have, and had the right to, fight something in court that wasn’t their fault. Luckily, they took the high road and decided to do the right thing by their customers. That was a stand up thing to do and they should be commended.”

Lexington Gets Spate of Auto Glass Vandalisms

Lexington is the latest place to be struck by the auto glass vandals.  According to police, no fewer than a dozen cars had their auto glass vandalized last week, all along a single drive.  The cars on Summerhill Drive suffered from broken windows and not windshields, further indicating the purely mischief-making nature of the prank.  People are suspecting that it is a single group that is responsible for the vandalism, considering that the incidents have all the indications of a series of vandalism caused by pranksters doing a malicious drive-by with a tool such as a pellet gun or a BB gun, two of the most favored instruments for vandals of car windows.

The auto glass vandalism are not new to this area, it seems.  At least one of the victims or owners of the vandalized cars, Nell Demaree, alleged that she had suffered a like vandalism before, after parking her car in the same location.  Residents of the area are troubled, fearing that the vandals shall continue to make the rounds of the location and make even more trouble for car owners.

Similar incidents have been breaking out all over the country and even abroad, although the vast majority of the auto glass break-ins this season have been ones suspected to be motivated by an intent to burgle.  The perpetrators do not always make off with something, of course, as some seem less discerning than others, but they do manage to steal something in most cases.  The usual items targeted are devices that are typically left in cars, such as GPS devices, sat nav units, and even mobile handsets forgotten by the owner in the seat of the car.  Other typical items that such car burglars look for would be packages from the mall, shopping bags, handbags, laptop bags, and similar items that may be left in any of the seats of the vehicle.  The usual recommendation in such cases is for car owners to simply take care not to leave anything tempting in their cars, and thus avoid presenting too much temptation to thieves.

The Lexington incidents, though, have not had any burglaries associated with them, which indicates pure vandalism at work.  This does not make it any less grave, of course: the owners of the cars still end up losing something, even if insurance does pay for the auto glass repair in most cases.  Still, the trouble of having to bring the car to the shop and wait for the broken window to be replaced is something to be considered.  Meanwhile, police are looking for clues and allege that although the incidents must have happened at any time from 1 to 5 in the morning, there should be some witnesses still.  Police urge any people with useful information to come forward and tell their story.

Tracking True In North Carolina: Wheel Alignment In Burgaw

Wheel alignment is often overlooked by busy Burgaw and Leland motorists until serious tire damage has been done. One wheel can be knocked out of alignment by hitting a curb or pothole on a Wilmington highway or surface street.

When a vehicle’s out of alignment, one or more of the wheels does not track true and pulls against the others. This causes several serious problems. First off, the tires will wear out faster and will need to be replaced prematurely. It could also lead to expensive sedans suspension problems.

Tracking True In North Carolina: Wheel Alignment In Burgaw

But the big issue for Burgaw, Leland, and Wilmington motorists is safety. When your sedans wheels are out of alignment, the vehicle will pull to one side, which could lead to an accident. When you’re out of alignment, you should have it taken care of right away at Atlantic Car Care in Wilmington.

When undergoing an alignment service at Atlantic Car Care, your sedans is put on an alignment rack where the tires, steering and suspension parts are checked for damage. Then the alignment is charted and checked against the factory settings.

Precision adjustments are made to bring the wheels back into alignment. This gets all four wheels going in exactly the same direction.

Leland motorists should be aware of the signs of alignment problems. These include the car pulling to one side. Also, the steering wheel may not be centered when you’re going straight. If you see the edges of one or more tires rapidly wearing down, you should have your Wilmington service center look it over. If you’ve been in an auto accident in North Carolina that involved a wheel, you should get your alignment checked.

Obviously, a big jolt can seriously knock things out of alignment, but Burgaw drivers also need to understand that a series of smaller ones can add up.

That’s why car makers recommend periodic alignment checks. If your sedans owner’s manual doesn’t specify, once a year might be appropriate. Or check with Mike Moore or your service advisor at Atlantic Car Care in Wilmington.

One thing’s for sure: the cost of the alignment at Atlantic Car Care is cheaper for Burgaw motorists than having to buy a couple of new tires because of neglect.

Safelite’s Internal Auto Glass Repair and Replacement Technician Contest Scheduled for Feb 8

After nearly half a year of qualifying contests and division competitions, the auto glass company Safelite’s internal competition for identifying the best auto glass repair and replacement technicians in the company is coming to its national heat, with the country’s best technicians coming to New Orleans on the 8th of February to duke it out amongst each other.  The technicians shall be meeting in the River City Ballroom of Mardi Gras World, and the event shall be running from 8:00hrs to 17:00hrs of that day.

This competition has been going on for a while now, with the first event having taken place last year, on the 10th of September for the auto glass repair company’s Southern California division.  Two more competitions took place in that same month, one for the South Atlantic and one for the technicians of Ohio Valley, followed by four competitions in October for the Pacific Southwest, Northwest, Mid-South, and South, in order of occurrence.  November had only two division contests, with the Midwest and the Rockies heats being decided, and the one contest for December was the North Atlantic division heat.

Also called the Best of Belron Competition, this company event is going to see contestants being tested on various skills and competencies, being asked to perform a range of procedures that shall include windshield repair and windshield replacement in order to demonstrate their skill at their chosen profession.  The requirements are quite rigorous and evaluation is famously strict, with speed not even taking the front seat when it comes to the most important aspects of the procedure or repair required: quality, strict technical prowess, and even interaction with the consumer are all looked into first and foremost in the contest, in order to ascertain a truly outstanding, superior breed of auto glass repair technician.

The national heat that is going to be taking place this February is of particular import because it decides who gets to represent the country in the coming global heat of the competition.  There are going to be 32 countries participating in the event, so winning that round—the final one—would be a most prestigious honour indeed for any auto glass technician.  The need to ensure that the country is well-represented also factors in the tension surrounding the coming event, so both participants and judges are expected to be fairly amped up for the contest.

The auto glass repair technician who wins the national heat gets more than the chance to represent the country in Barcelona, Spain on the 22nd-24th of May for the global part of the contest: he is also going to be taking home a total of $10,000 in pocket money as an additional reward.

  • Meeting with an approved credit counselor for a 90-minute session within 6 months before filing your bankruptcy petition;

Privacy Auto Glass on Cinderella’s New Carriage by Maybach

The luxury automotive manufacturer, Maybach, has just submitted its entry for the 2011 LA Auto Show Design Challenge, putting forth a recreation of the classic Berline carriage into an updated version of Cinderella’s enchanted pumpkin.  Among other things, the Maybach Berline is going to be fitted with oversized moulded auto glass panels for the gull-wing doors, a virtual chauffeur centre, and retractable stairs: Cinderella’s ideal fairytale experience, in other words.

The first thing that pops into your head when you see the Maybach Berline is simply awe.  The whole thing is gorgeous, and with the huge auto glass doors, looks like something that has popped straight out of a futuristic film.  This is in keeping with the theme of the contest: the LA Auto Show Design Challenge is basically a competition for various automakers to see which one can design the next “dream car” for Hollywood.

The Berline is in good standing in the competition.  Equipped with only the most luxurious amenities and provided with a teleoperation system that saves occupants of the car from having to deal with the (often intrusive) presence of a driver, the car is perfect for several dozen movie plots that are all takeoffs on the original Cinderella story.  Auto enthusiasts, especially those who loved the Mercedes-Benz GL Class, should also find another type of perfection in the car’s lines, as its futuristic look is not without references to some of the most popular cars of old.

The interiors are particularly attractive in the Maybach Berline.  One can practically envision all types of film sequences playing out in it due to the tête-à-tête positions of occupants—a return to the old horse-drawn carriages back in the day.

The Berline is going to be in stiff competition, though: also participating in the event are Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Hyundai, and Honda.  Mercedes-Benz, which collaborated with Maybach in the creation of the Berline, is actually putting forth two entries from two separate branches, one from N. America and Germany.  The former is going to be fielding the Mercedes Silver Arrow, the latter the Smart 341 Parkour.  Subaru is going to be submitting the Subaru Horizon, designed by its team in Tokyo.  Hyundai is submitting the Stratus Sprinter, a car conceptualised for a vampire movie, and Honda is submitting the Honda Intelligent Horse, a futuristic concept car with striking lines and unusual wheels.

The concept cars all feature some sort of tweak or new technology, whether it is in the type of auto glass used or the very functionalities of the vehicle.  The winner of the LA Auto Show Design Challenge this year is going to be announced on the 17th of this month, and car enthusiasts (as well as film-lovers) are already speculating heavily on which vehicle design shall take the prize.

What’s Car Talk’s Second Opinion? Joe Might Be Able to Skip the New Engine!

  • Location: Boston, MA
  • The Opinion: New Engine
  • The Boat Payment: $5,000
  • The Savings: $1,400

Car Talk Second Opinion

Joe’s daughter let her Honda Element run low on coolant. Unfazed by those increasingly stern warning lights appearing in the dash, she drove on for miles — until the car overheated, warping the engine block.

Realizing that it was time to see a mechanic, she turned the keys back over to dear old dad, who took it to the dealer. Repair was out of the question due to the extent of the damage.  The Element needed a new engine and the dealer could get one for $5,000. Or he could consider a rebuilt engine for less money– but also fewer guarantees.

Joe picked up the phone and called Car Talk Second Opinion. Our mechanics thought that putting a brand-new engine in a used car didn’t make the most sense. And for a car with less than 100,000 miles, the dealer’s $5,000 offer to repair the car was not all that generous. With a little research, our mechanics found a replacement engine that came with a 70,000-mile warranty. And, once that engine is purchased and installed (for an estimate of $3,600), the car’s trade-in value will be back up in the neighborhood of $12,000.  Our mechanic saved him $1,400 up front and even with the initial investment, ensured that Joe can look forward to getting almost twice as much on a trade-in as the dealership originally offered.

Car Talk Help with Honda

Update: Joe replaced the engine with a used model and a brand-new water pump (the probable culprit). The Element is still a beloved member of the family.

November = Time To Prepare Your Vehicle For Holiday Travel!

Welcome, November! Now that you’re here, we are officially in a Halloween candied, sugar-overloaded stupor and heading straight into the throes of the holiday season.  Tis the season to be on the roads more often than usual, so here are some helpful reminders to prepare the family vehicle for holiday travel:

Oil Changes:  If you look at your vehicle’s odometer, do you notice anything? If it has been over 3000 miles since your last oil change with conventional oil, perhaps it’s time for a new oil change. If you have a vehicle that uses synthetic oil, you may need to come in for an oil change if it’s been over 6000 miles. If you’re not sure, check with Robert’s Auto Repair and we’ll give you a status on your vehicle’s recommended oil change time frame.

Minor and Major Service:  Keep looking at your vehicle’s odometer and see if you notice if it has reached 15K, 30K, 45K, 60K, 75K, 90K, 105K, or 120K miles. If it has passed the odd numbers, like 15K, 45K, 75K, and 105K, you may need a minor service. If it has passed the even numbers, like 30K, 60K, 90K, or 120K, it’s definitely time for major service. If you’re not sure, check your Owners Manual or request a free Safety Inspection at Robert’s Auto Repair. We’ll let you know when your next minor or major service is due.

Tires:  Here are a few questions to ponder about your tires:

  • How does that tread look?

  • How many miles have you put on those tires?

  • Can those tires carry you and your family safely down the road for that holiday road trip, or are you pushing your luck?

  • Is your spare tire ready for action?

  • Are you getting the best gas mileage possible on those tires?

If you need help assessing your vehicle’s tires, Robert’s Auto Repair is here to help.

Auto Body Repair:  If you have a cracked headlight lens, or a damaged tail light, please make sure to bring your vehicle into Robert’s Auto Repair for auto body repair. Lights are part of your safety feature and you’re putting everyone around you at risk when you put a band aid of tape on your light lens. Robert’s Auto Repair is the preferred auto body repair provider for numerous insurance companies, so coverage for the auto body repairs shouldn’t be a big deal. Do it in the name of safety, at least.

Detailing:  Let’s assume that your car, truck, SUV, van, or hybrid vehicle is in great shape. If you look at the paint finish, does it still sparkle like it used to? If your vehicle could use a thorough clean up or a nice detail that will remove fine scratches, our detailing department will be happy to help dress your vehicle for the holidays.

If you’re ready to be proactive in preparing your vehicle for the holiday season, we look forward to serving you. Robert’s Auto Repair is conveniently located at 234 Ramona, Monterey, CA 93940, right off of Del Monte Blvd. at Highway 1.

Driving Safety During The First Rains of the Season

Slick roads are only fun on a go-kart track…not on the freeway, right? When the first rains of the season hit the Monterey Peninsula and Salinas, it is important to be very careful while driving.

When the first rains of the season come along, the roads are super slick due to the oils deposited from the traffic. Naturally, when water drops hit the well-oiled roadways, there is a higher tendency for cars and trucks to slip and slide. At best case scenario, your vehicle hits a slick spot and hydroplanes for a second. In the worst cases, your vehicle loses traction altogether, sending your vehicle into a tailspin or fatal crash. To prevent these hazards, here are a few driving safety tips during the first rains of the season:

  • Exercise extreme caution.
  • Allow for more travel time.
  • Do not use cruise control.
  • Brake earlier, and don’t use too much force.
  • Avoid pooling water when possible.
  • Turn on your headlights and wipers at first sign of rain.
  • Be extra careful around pedestrians.
  • Give the vehicle in front of you plenty of space.
  • Defog your windows.
  • When hydroplaning, ease off the gas pedal and avoid braking suddenly or turning your steering wheel.
  • If you spin out, turn your wheels into the direction of the spin, but don’t over correct too much or you may end up losing control or flipping your vehicle.

We hope these driving safety tips are helpful to you. If you end up getting into an accident — minor or major — during the rainy season, we are here to assist you. Robert’s Auto Repair is a preferred vendor for many insurance companies, and we have the tools to get your vehicle fixed up again quickly.

To schedule an appointment with our auto body or detailing shop, please call today at 831-373-1535. Robert’s Auto Repair is conveniently located at 234 Ramona, Monterey, CA 93940, right off of Del Monte Blvd. at Highway 1.
